The Pimlico Craft Chairs

I created this range to celebrate my own crafting process, drawing inspiration from the working chair of a master craftsperson I know. That chair, in her Pimlico home, is sacred to her and obscure to most, but it serves as the core of this tribute.

Cleft Pimlico Craft Chair - a celebration of wood itself, showcasing the work to bring a log of a cherry tree to a piece of furniture, through the natural splitting of the timber contrasting the expected flat finish to wooden furniture.

Carved with Fire Pimlico Craft Chair - an exploration of the destructive properties of fire and the fascinating textural remnants of the flames. Burning the parts upon which the person touches, to promote tactile consideration.

Makers Marked Pimlico Craft Chair - A response to the culture and dialogue surrounding crafts‘man’ship. This piece adorned with the marks of the maker, brings the making to the fore. Using a chemical reaction between the wood and solution applied to hands to leave the marks of  making.
