I am a maker working across craft and design. My practice is driven by an exploration of materials and their interaction with specific making processes. I seek to balance controlled, fine craftsmanship with the free expression of the material itself. Each decision I make carries consequences, ones that aim to celebrate the personality of the material or the process.

Using furniture as a form of artistic expression, I create pieces that are unique to each making. My work embraces contrast, texture, and individuality - resulting in objects that hold presence, character, and a sense of material honesty.

I grew up in the English countryside, spending my early years making through play and curiosity, building a foundation for a lifelong connection to hands-on making and design. My desire to understand and explore materials led me to an education in Chemical Engineering, and a career in Manufacturing.

While working in Japan, I started to reconsider hands-on making once again through exposure to Japanese art, craft, design and building. Following this my making journey recommenced, leading me to Kingston University where I honed my practice and conceptualisation of ideas, through a Master’s in Product and Furniture Design. Then on to Snowdon School of Furniture where I developed my skills in joinery and experimentation with timber specifically.
